A Prayer For South Africa

This is a special posting so we can pray together for our precious country. As we know the ANC decided to dedicate South Africa to their ancestral spirits and invoke them during their 100 year birthday celebrations tonight. From the Bible we know that there is not such a thing as an ancestral spirit, for when man dies, the souls of the unsaved go to the place of waiting and do not have any contact with earth while the souls of Christians go to heaven. The so-called ancestral spirits are actually demons that manifest accordingly.

We know that Jesus defeated Satan and all his demons at the cross and they are therefore subjected to Him if we declare it. Kevin Meshoe made a very good suggestion and we’d like to support him with this prayer. He said that if we’ve already dedicated the country to the Lord and the country is already under His authority, the dedication to the demons will have no power, which is Biblically correct. Our expectation is that God will reveal Himself to those people during their rituals at the ANC festival.

Before I pray I’d like to bring testimony about a missionary who was challenged by a witchdoctor to prove whose god is the greatest. While the missionary sat there watching the witchdoctor producing one demonic manifestation after the other to prove his power, he prayed silently: “Lord, I don’t know how to prove your power. Please manifest yourself.” Moments later the witchdoctor called out: “Who is this Jesus of yours, I’d like to know him.” Surprised the missionary asked why. “I know every demon by name and have continuous fellowship with them,” he said. “While I communicated with them, the demons suddenly screamed: ‘Run, here comes Jesus... run!’ I need to meet this Jesus of yours.”

While I prayed this morning, the Lord led me to pray like that and I would therefore like to lead us in this important prayer. Please pray with me from the depth of your heart.

“Lord God Almighty, we love you. Many years ago you sent Christians to this country with a great goal in mind – to establish a country where your light may shine brightly. If we compare other European countries with South Africa, we are proud to see how much the South Africans love Jesus. The devil makes every effort to infiltrate your stronghold and this weekend he’ll try desperately. Therefore we confirm and declare that South Africa belongs to you, that you reign here and that demons and all your enemies are subject to you. It’s your stronghold. You have established your Kingdom here and daily we see your great works manifested in this land.

“We ask that you will reveal yourself to the ancestral spirit worshipers during the ANC festival this weekend, as you’ve revealed yourself to that witchdoctor in the testimony above. We have an expectation that you will break through to the hearts of those in our government who do not know you and in that way strengthen your stronghold in South Africa. It would be lovely to once again have a government that honours you.

“We look forward to testimony in the media of your great miracles and manifestation during the ANC festival. We believe and trust you in the name of Jesus our saviour. Praise the Lord! Amen.”
